New Drawings!
Hello! Angie of artangel here - just wanted to show off these two new coloured pencil drawings that I have added to my Etsy shop this week. I haven't done any proper, pure drawing for ages (though I often use some touches of coloured pencil in my mixed media work) but then this last week I've got the coloured pencil bug again! Hope you like them!

Woo-hoo! These are beautiful girlfriend. GREAT JOB hon & thanks for putting your work on my blog-hugs. Post whenever you want to! ~smiling~
Have you used other mediums with your colored pencils? Colored pencils are beautiful & not an easy medium to use so I know how much time & love went into your drawings.
When I was going to art college ... (I am a trained illustrator-secrets out now damn!!!!)I was a colored pencil freak! Loved them! But I started using other mediums with my colored pencil drawings.
I would start with a GOOD illustration board. I used colored pencils, an ebony pencil, craypas (now called-oil pastels) The ebony pencil was used for shading & I am a hatching & cross-hatching freak! And I love details. Later I would need turpentine...
?????????
I would draw out my picture using the colored pencils, craypas (oil pastels) & ebony pencil to where I really loved my drawing. Craypas are very thick esp next to colored pencils. That's when the turpentine comes in.
I would take the Craypas (oil pastels) & actually thin them out with the turpentine to where it was a thin paint consistency. With my paint brush, I then could control my colors. This would allow me to 'blend.' It would also blend the ebony pencil if I chose to do that. I then would go back with my ebony pencil or colored pencils & shade with cross hatching or just hatching. Very cool effect.
Wow-yakkity-shmakkity Keri!!!!!!!Think I need coffee-NOT!!!!! Hugs hon!
Oh Angie I love your work, just so beautiful!
Hey Keri Joy, please stop by my blog when you have a moment, I've left an award for you♥
Thanks so much for your kind comments, Keri and Sharon.
Keri - yes I often use coloured pencils along with paint and with collage. I hadn't done any work in just pencil for a while though - this was a nice change - I forgot how hypnotic and therapeutic it was, all that shading!!
I have used turpentine with oil pastels before, but your technique with the pencil too sounds really interesting - you may have inspired me to try that out - thanks!
