Hi Everyone! I hadn't posted in a while so I thought I would show my latest project: my kitty memorial sculpture.
I made custom clay pigs last Christmas until they were coming out of my ears (I vowed NEVER to make a clay pig holding a Budweiser again!) and a VERY nice customer that had requested a custom ornament last year requested a memorial sculpture in memory of her precious kitty.
I was NERVOUS to take this project on because I usually don't sit down to sculpt with an idea already in mind. The wings were difficult for me (but they look MUCH better in person) and deciding on the size of base was also a challenge because I didn't want to dwarf the sculpture and make it look diminished. I also jazzed the base up a little before I packed him up to ship because it just lacked luster.
Animals just aren't easy for me to sculpt but I was happy that the general feeling of the sculpture captured the essence of the real pet... or at least I think so :)
I hope you all are having a great evening and I'll be dropping back in soon!
Renee :)
P.S. We're finally getting a good snow in East Tennessee! WooHoo!

Hi sweetie! That looked like a tough sculpt-woo-hoo! Actually I am writing a friend whose cat just passed & of course she is a mental case right now. A couple years she remembered I put my beloved Bones down. He was a black lab who was 16 1/2 & it killed me to do it. So she knows the pain I felt & is coming to me. I think I need coffee for this one. Hugs sweetie!
I'm sure the obvious care you took with this piece will be a great comfort to your customer. Congratulations!
