Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!
well, when I woke up this morning I felt something slimy on my neck. It seems one of my mini monster has decided to hang out on my shirt today. I guess it is ok for today, being that it is Halloween and all. But she leaves slime trails everywhere so I think I will lock her up later.

Good Morning All!

Good morning! I just finished my first Christmas elf of the season. I feel it is too early for Christmas and I always got aggravated at retail stores for starting Christmas too early, but I was just inspired to create this elf so here she is!

She started off life as an Ichabod Crane looking figure but very quickly the idea formed in my mind of the disapproving elf.

She is a mixed media piece made from my son's old wooden dump-truck, polymer clay, apoxie sculpt clay, and paper.

Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL day :)

Medusa

Medusa is just misunderstood, really. I have no idea what I am talking about. So for my newest project I have created a Medusa. She is polymer clay, hand painted, and her dress is handmade paper (not made by me). I really enjoyed creating her and hope that you don't turn to stone when you look into her eyes.

Gotta Have Some Windows & Bright Things!!!!!!

Well dear friends we are from all over the world but here in Illinois it is getting cold & dreary. The trees of course are changing & are magnificent. My beautiful garden (I was never a gardener before this townhouse) is going to sleep for the year & it makes me 'weepy.' I must say it was quite beautiful this year & we have only lived here almost 2 years. I have been spoiled!

In the 2 years we have lived here we have planted probably close to 100 perennials. Hubby would come home from work & find 8 new plants sitting in the garage & he would say...."Hon I thought we said we were not buying anymore plants." And I would respond with "Hon-I thought I only bought 1! I don't remember buying 8!!!!!

So when art shows up mysteriously here (on a regular basis) or a zillion plants is when you use the Lyme Disease to your advantage & you blame it on brain-fogs!
Now you all know what a rat I am! ~cracking up~ But hubby is one-in-n-a-million & Ol Ker was won-in-a-raffle!
Hugs & love my dear friends.

My Latest Creation

Hi guys! I thought I would share my latest creation... my merge between Halloween and Christmas. Actually, she is the Hansel and Gretel witch. Anyone who knows me knows how much I enjoy creating really ugly, whimsical witches but I wanted to create a more colorful witch so I decided to make this one, all bedecked with pies, donuts, and candy. Not to mention those two little enticing gingerbread cookies!

I love to pop in and visit, Keri!

Mandalas are drawings that are done with a circle, based on balance and symmetry.  Whatever is placed in the circle draws the energy of your intentions.  They are inspirational and powerful tools for visualization and bringing healing imagery into your unconscious.

Widow Jones with baby Dante

Well, I just finished up my newest piece. She is a little different than my "normal", and I love her. I really like trying new things, and I tend to make little kids all the time, so for this piece I wanted to get back to
my roots, so to speak and do a big curvy lady with lots of character.

Hazel Joy Turns 1!!!!!!!!

And a Yum...Yum...Yum......And A Yum....Yum......Yum

Well it's hard to believe "Hazie" is turning 1 so we had her party on Saturday. My daughter Kelly and Hazie loves ladybugs and my daughters fiance' goes by the name of "B" so a ladybug and a bee themed party. Kelly and "B "VERY creative with the games and so a ladybug pinata and Pin-The-Stinger-On-The-Bee started them off.

Knowing and seeing what Kelly was buying for the party (ladybug and bee everything!) Ol Grandma wanted to see what I could find out there on the internet to have some fun with. I saw this outfit & HAD to have it! And no doubt that Hazel Joy likes cake! ~laughing~

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY YOUNGEST PRINCESS!
Just one more reason for feeling so blessed. The rest of my 'brood' is my son, daughter, hubby & my other SWEETHEART Granddaughter Lexi.

WHIMSICAL CAT LOVERS "FAIRY"

Meet my new whimsical feline fairy! I just couldn't pass up this delightful fabric, while shopping in a favorite quilt shop. Usually I have my eye out for colorful, batik fabrics, which I just love to use for most of my creations. This one just jumped out at me saying what a fun, whimsical "kitty" it would make. She is 10" tall and is one of my "wall style" fairies. She also looks fun dangling from a bit of ribbon or clear fishing line.

Thanks Keri Joy, for letting us share our work out here on your blog!

If you'd like to learn more about her, you can visit my DZFANTASY shop out on Etsy by clicking on the link below.

DZFANTASY

New Work!

This is my newly finished mixed media painting, which I created using acrylic paints, coloured pencil and collaged paper.

The colours are soft, restful teal blues, ochres and white. The canvas is 8” X 8" X 0.6" approx (20 x 20 1.6 cm approx.)

I am in the middle of another "bird in a tree" painting too at the moment - I must be going through a birdie phase!

This painting is now available for sale in my etsy shop.

Going Pink for October

I'm happy to announce that once again we'll be participating in the Going Pink for October campaign. Pink for October is an initiative to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, get people talking about breast cancer, and raise money for research by making websites pink and wearing a badge.

This year along with with wearing a pink badge on our websites we will also be sponsoring a prize for a contest the P4O website will be holding, increasing awareness through our graphic design shop by offering banners and badges and featuring several postings here throughout the month of October.

Since Etsy doesn't allow me to post free items in my graphic shop, the money earned from the sales of the banners and badges will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
I will be creating a specially designed Woven Wire Beaded Bracelet featuring a pink flower focal by the talented Zuda Gay, that also includes a pink ribbon bead and a selection of pink accompanying beads.

Sadly my mother lost her nine year battle with breast cancer when I was a child. She lived at a time when mammograms and prevention awareness were unheard of. I'm thankful that today we have measures which can help families live long lives together as breast cancer not only affects women but touches the lives of men as well.

It would be wonderful if you could help spread the word as well by posting a badge on your blog or shop. Together we can make a difference.

Good Morning!

Good morning everyone! I always enjoy stopping in and seeing what everyone has posted in the last week or so! Here is my latest finished creation, which I gave away on a whim to anyone who read my blog and now she is somewhere in transit to CA! I hope she adjusts OK!

Sometimes I lose my UMPH and then I realize I need to do something new. I kind of feel like that right now. I think my next work will be my first ART CARD! Does anyone here make mixed media art cards? I can't paint or draw a lick (southern saying!) but I was thinking of sculpting onto the card and maybe just painting the background a little. What do you guys think?
P.S. Keri, you've been tagged! Come see my Funky Folky blog for details!

An Angel From an Angel

Yesterday this GORGEOUS angel arrived from my dear friend Laurie. I cannot begin to express what she means to me. Right now I just wanted to share her with you & as soon as I find 'her a home' in a window I will update the picture as she will and is spectacular!!!!!!!

Thank you sweet friend for your kind and generous gift, every time I see her I will think of you. Laurie made this "Protect This Woman" angel from the bottom of her heart and she will always remain so SPECIAL to mine. With love and hugs (doin' the Keri dance!) thank you honey.
A zillion hugs.
Keri

To view her WONDERFUL work I will list a couple of her links below-her work is gorgeous!

They come in three.

Not much going on besides the new schedule of "things to do", so I'm still adapting. My recent computer crash has me reinstalling software after software to get back on track.

I did finish this painting. "The Yellow Dress", a triptych on gallery wrapped canvas.

This is a 3-set of 4 x 5 inch canvases, that are ready to hang. The 3/4 inch, staple-free sides are painted, as well. Acrylics used; varnish is sprayed on, glossy finish.

On Etsy.

Hi
Angie here of www.artangel.etsy.com.

The lovely - and very kind - Keri has invited me to post my new work here, so here it is!

This is one of my "hearts" series of mixed media paintings - this particular one is a small canvas, 7 x 5", though I have made these in many sizes. I first paint the canvas with acrylic paints, then I cut out the hearts by hand before adding them to the canvas and finishing with more painting. I have a huge collection of papers, including some from my old work and sketchbook pages. The best bit of the process is picking out which papers to use!

Anyway hope you like it, and thanks again Keri!
